Well This Is A Fine Mess…

Sometimes, as an artist, you find you’ve made pieces before their time. And when their
time arrives, when the story they tell is right for the times, it is quite clear.

DISTANT DREAMS in the time of Covid, are just such pieces. What an interesting time
we are captured in right now. We are more and less connected than ever before,
experiencing both at the same time. No wonder we feel unmoored.

It seems we are all in a nostalgic mood for our “normal” not so distant past while
dreaming of optimism for the future. DISTANT DREAMS are reflections on time,
communication, the lessons of history, searching for guidance to the future.

DISTANT DREAMS #4 contemplates time, our movement backwards into history and
the information we can build upon to then move our imagination and dream into the
future. The hourglass around her neck allows for dream time to be endless, turning
over and over without limit.

DISTANT DREAMS #5 is a meditation on the initial opening of the world via the first
radios in every home. A compass reminds us that we are always in reach of our true
north and so our dreams can expand and are only limited by the size of our
imagination.

We use DISTANT as an expansive concept. Reaching, growing, building, touching the
rich information from the past and using DREAMS as a bridge to the unlimited
possibilities of the future.
