What should be done to push glass art beyond traditional craft and into the fine arts?

There is a greater number of artists who focus on other art forms and who uses different materials than glass. This could explain the impression that Fine Art objects made from glass are not exhibited in “common” Art Museums very often. Who knows, perhaps Fine Art from glass will follow a parallel direction to that of contemporary Fine Arts because of its specifics and difficulties. Or may be because the majority of artists did not discover it yet.But as long as it exists and has its audience, artists will keep bringing to life these extraordinary objects created from glass, which they can not be repeated in any other material .At the end contemporary Fine Art is made by artists, no matter what material they have used….

Josef Marek in his sculptural objects uses natural qualities of glass mass and its ability to create impression of spatial depth or transformations of shapes and light. His practical sculptural training, ability of perception and strong imagination gives him the advantage to approach this extraordinary medium from many different directions. Sometimes Josef in his simple , geometric forms– perhaps influenced by his long stay in Japan – creates unreal spaces with the extraordinary mysterious feeling ,or perhaps a presence of ability of higher perception of surrounding reality .Some other time creating objects in apparently impossible positions denying gravity for to create impression of levitating , perhaps like an another option for our imperfect senses , yet his all time approach remains the same – simplicity ,clarity and purity- as a strong contrast for our mostly complicated world.
